From Shanghai to Ohio: Woo Chong Yung (1898–1989) features 88 works, including painting and calligraphy, carved seals, and a Taiji sword drawn from the collections of the Cincinnati Art Museum and The Frank Museum of Art at Otterbein University. Few of these paintings have ever been published or publicly displayed. A struggle between greed and idealism fuels the plot of “Dear World,” a musical by Jerry Herman (“Hello, Dolly,” “La Cage aux Folles”). The show is based on the novel The Madwoman of Chaillot by Jean Giraudoux. In it, Countess Aurelia, engages her colorful friends in a scheme to stop businessmen from drilling for oil in the Parisian neighborhood of Chaillot. The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue that includes writings from Sue Spaid and an interview with exhibition organizer Joe Girandola, AAC President, and Kristi Nelson, PH. D. revolving around Stewart’s practice and mentorship of students at the Art Academy of Cincinnati from 1968-2001. Stewart Goldman taught at the Art Academy of Cincinnati for over thirty years.
